ART TALK

Friday 10 July 7.00pm

An evening with Judy Willoughby in the ART TALKS series.

Judy will be talking about her work in the context of the Romantic poets and their relationship to the landscape, particularly the life of Dorothy Wordsworth.  The Wordsworths were great walkers and in 1798 they moved to Alfoxton House in the Quantock Hills to be near Coleridge with the intention of forging a creative partnership inspired by nature and landscape.   Ticket price £2:00 includes refreshments. WELCOME …

Help us make your Arts Centre the best it can be!

Welcome to our new-look July - September season of events.

To try to keep you better informed of events happening at the arts centre we have decided to publish our programme every three months in a new streamlined brochure.  The events will also be listed on this web page.

I am pleased to offer several fantastic quality concerts this season.  The first by "Arabesque" on 3 July.  This is the final concert in the "Concerts in the West" series.  In addition, we are especially proud to host on 18 July, the String Sextet classical concert and support some very talented young musicians embarking on their professional careers.  Our jazz programme includes Barrett & Hearnshaw with influences as wide as Bach and the Beatles as well as traditional swing from the Pete Canter Quartet.

Our Visual Arts sees the final ART TALKS of the series.  This popular event closes with the work of Judy Willoughby and the exciting exploration between art and the romantic poets.  Also, don't miss out on the annual Summer Open Exhibition which always produces a wonderfully varied display in the galleries.

Please support us at our good old-fashioned Jumble Sale in August.  We are not a regularly funded organisation and need to generate enough money to keep the arts centre open for the community to enjoy.

Thank you as always to all our supporters, volunteers and friends, we would not be here without you!
