ANETA SKUT and her friends
Tickets £10 (£24 including pre-show supper) can be booked on 01460 54973
Following the sell-out success of our "Spanish evening" last year, we are delighted to present another performance of Spanish flamenco dance, guitar and percussion. As before, Aneta will be accompanied by a number of her friends and they will be performing for us the dance and guitar delights of their traditional musical culture.
This evening will take the audience on a journey around Spain filled with vibrant colours and passion of flamenco. Dancers Aneta Skut and Victoria Clifford are joined on this occasion by the finest flamenco musicians in the south-west Cuffy Cuthbert (guitar) and Jaime Cantera (vocals/percussion).
Cuffy Cuthbert's fascination with Flamenco often took him to Spanish shores to study and perform with many musicians, dancers and singers. He guest features on Bristol based 'Up Bustle and Out' numerous albums and has joined them for UK & European live gigs. Cuffy has also toured worldwide with the Ladino singer Yasmin Levy.
Jaime Cantera's roots are in Spain and Cuba. He writes many of the lyrics of the songs he sings absorbing influences from different world music styles such as afro, latin, gypsy, reggae or pop. Always a fan of Camaron de la Isla, Jimi ventured into the flamenco corners of Andalucía, making long-lasting connections in towns like Granada, Seville or Jerez, where he has studied and lived.
Aneta Skut discovered her passion for dance as a child but flamenco has captured her soul and led her to follow its path to Spain, where she learnt from renowned teachers at Amor de Dios in Madrid and in Andalusia. Aneta's expressive style has brought together many influences from the east and west – a fusion representing her life journey through different countries.
Victoria Clifford has studied flamenco here and in Spain, developing her unique dance style.
Both Victoria and Aneta teach weekly classes and monthly workshops and perform regularly in the South-West with variety of musicians.
